WILLARD SPELLING BEE

The annual Willard Spelling Bee is held in the spring in the Willard School Auditorium. Students in grades 3 through 5 are invited to participate. Students compete in teams and are welcome to wear team shirts or costumes! Admission is free to this fun event filled with friendly competition and educational challenge. We hope to see you at the BEE!

  

Schedule

3rd graders | 4:30-5:30 PM:

  • Compete in teams of one to three.

  • Form a team – pick a team name!

  • Words chosen from 3rd grade word list

4th graders | 5:45-6:45 PM:

  • Compete in teams of one to three.

  • Form a team – pick a team name!

  • Words from 4th grade word list

5th graders | 7:00-8:00 PM:

  • Compete in teams of one to three

  • Form a team – pick a team name!

  • Words from 5th grade word list

Registration

Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis through the Google Drive link below.  There are a set number of teams for each grade.

If you need some help recruiting team members, teachers are a great resource for finding other students who may be interested in participating. 

 

Parents

  • Each team / group needs one parent coach.

  • Coach will serve as our contact person.

  • Coach will be responsible for communicating and coordinating with your team, encouraging your team to practice prior to the Bee, and help pick a team name!

Willard Weekly Submission Guidelines


If you would like to submit an article to the Willard Weekly, please contact the Editor at weekly@willardptg.org.

Guidelines

  • Submissions must be school or community related and not commercial in nature

  • It should be limited to 100 words or fewer, and must be sent as text in an email

  • Please include contact information or website link

  • The deadline for submissions is 6:00 PM on Tuesdays. Submissions received after deadline will go in the following week’s Willard Weekly.

  • Please note that an announcement generally runs for 2 weeks – first week to announce and second week to remind. Please time your submission accordingly.

  • All decisions are at the Editors’ discretion
